SITZ BATH
  • SITZ BATH

Healing herbal sitz baths for where the sun don't shine!

Herbal sitz baths are a timeless therapy for supporting the overall health and healing of the most tender places of the body!

Sitz baths are shallow baths intended to soak just your bottom. Herbal sitz baths are sitz baths made by adding herb-infused water to a bath, instead of just water or bath salts. Sitz baths apply the principles of hydrotherapy to draw fresh blood to the pelvic area aiding in healing and cleansing from the perineum to the anus.

Sitz baths are a gentle, accessible way to relieve pain, reduce swelling + itching, soothe hemorrhoids, ease genital herpes, and overall improve hygiene by reducing yeast + bacteria. Many excellent reasons to befriend an herbal sitz bath ritual!

The concept is simple! brew the botanical "tea", add it to a shallow basin or tub, soak your sweet bottom, proceed to chill, and repeat daily until healed!  This herbal brew can even be enjoyed in a peri-bottle or as a padsicle!  Instructions on how to enjoy below!

    Organic Ingredients:

    Comfrey (Symphytum officinale)

    Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

    Red Raspberry Leaf (Rubus idaeus)

    Calendula (Calendula officinalis)

    Marshmallow root (Althea officinalis)

    Rose Petals (Rosa centifolia)

    Lavender Petals( Lavandula intermedia)

    • How to Enjoy:

      1. Add 3 heaping tablespoons of the herbs to a quart-sized jar or 1 TBS of herbs per 1 cup of water.

      2. Fill the jar with boiling water and let it steep (covered). *Steep herbs for a minimum 15 minutes or, longer (the longer you steep the tea, the stronger the infusion, overnight is great too!).

      3. You can gently rewarm the tea before use. Add the strong brew to a warm, shallow bath (enough water to submerge your vulva & bum).  Add a ¼ cup of sea salt to the tub for additional healing benefits. Soak for at least 20 minutes. Add more warm bath water afterward for a full-body soak (yum!).

Continue this practice once a day for at least a month postpartum or to heal irritated tissues as needed.
